Mattias Ekeroth

Mattias Ekeroth began riding horses at age four in Malmo, Sweden, and has been competing for 24 years. He went on to win championships as a child and junior rider in Scandinavia, competing as a top rider in the district of Skåne, Sweden.  At the age of 19, he moved to Holland to train with Dan Nanning, and then worked with three-time Olympian Evelyn Blaton in Germany. By the time he returned to Sweden, Mattias was riding for several professional show barns.

Mattias decided to broaden his horizons and moved to the US . Upon his arrival, he began riding for Fairwind Farms and Full Circle Farms. In addition, he trains and shows for the Plaid Ranch.

Mattias starts the show season at Indio, and attends 16 to 18 A and B shows a year throughout California and Oregon. Out-of-state and international shows can be arranged.

Praised for his ability to communicate with horses, Mattias has produced some of the best horses on the European and American show circuits, including Lander, Ardius, Caligula II, and Cantona (who he bred in Sweden and imported to the US ). Mattias' network of contacts and excellent eye at choosing quality horses make European buying trips a specialty.

Horses are ridden by Mattias, and his assistant, two times per week, keeping them tuned up and in competition condition.
Mattias Ekeroth Stables is located at Alder Lane Farms in beautiful Petaluma, CA, just one hour north of San Francisco . We are a private facility offering 70 extra-large stalls, an abundance of spacious grass turnouts, Grand Prix ring, hunter ring, and state-of-the-art indoor ring.
